Small Spoiler Warning

The Harry Potter series is an amazing set of movies based upon a magic world beyond which our own thoughts could muster. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was the closing chapter to this series, which made most of the giant fan base sad but at the same point and time excited.

Last night I went and watched the release of the new Harry Potter movie, as I have been following and watching all of the movies since they’ve began on the big screen. Here are my thoughts on the movie.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was an awesome movie to watch. If you are a Harry Potter fan and did not make it to the midnight premiere, I highly recommend that you go and watch it. In this movie, Harry Potter, Ronald Weasely, and Hermione Granger take on their final task of defeating Lord Voldemort. With Professor Snape now as headmaster at Hogwarts, there has now been a different approach with Lord Voldemort. Lord Voldemort is not anymore a name that shouldn’t be spoken at Hogwarts and between the Slytherin House and Professor Snape, an almost peculiar welcoming vibe has been brought throughout the castle. Now, Harry Potter and his friends need to get back into Hogwarts in order to destroy one of the last horcrux’s that keeps Voldemort at such high power. Little do all the characters know that there’s another piece to the puzzle missing (This piece I will not give away).

As Harry and the rest of his followers return home to Hogwarts, it is clear that they are staying where they are and plan on putting up the biggest fight Lord Voldemort will ever face. How does it end though? That’s something you’ll have to find out for yourself by watching this amazing movie.

The actors and actresses in this particular Harry Potter movie did an excellent job as normal in portraying their characters. It’s really amazing to see how each of the main characters have grown into themselves. Hermoine Granger is now more of a woman with Harry and Ronald both realizing that she has great in the moment advice that has saved them numerous amounts of times in previous movies. While Ron in this movie has become so much more confident as himself as a wizard and a friend. Harry himself has also grown into a man who realizes his decisions can affect every single person he cares and loves for. Not only was this movie more action-packed than any other Harry Potter movie that’s been out, it also is the ending, and a decent one at that.

The slight skepticism I have is that the directors and J.K. Rowling have left one or two parts of the story unfinished. This will be discussed at a later point in time once the movie has been out in theaters longer.

My Personal Movie Rating: 9.2/10

Bridesmaids was the number one comedy in America and I have to say it was a well-deserved title.

Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph are the perfect comedy duo and they compliment each other extremely well. The two have a hilarious five minute lunch scene that set the tone for the entire movie, but Melissa McCarthy was the glue that held everything together. Her witty one-liners and crazy antics are enough to make audiences fall in love with Bridesmaids.

Although some things are predictable in this Paul Feig comedy, there are enough surprises to keep you in your seat.

So if you’re looking for a laugh out loud comedy that will keep you laughing and tearing tillthe very end, Bridesmaids has all of that and more.

My Personal Movie Rating: 8.1/10

Bad Teacher is one of those movies. There are definitely parts in the movie that are laugh out loud funny, but sometimes you don’t know if you’re laughing with the movie or at it.

The concept of the movie was great, the writing was amazing, but the delivery could have been better. The only good things Bad Teacher has is Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel. Two of the best comedy actors that could have been cast. The worst? Justin Timberlake. His acting was abysmal. I’m sure he thought he could be the male version of Jennifer Lopez, but after his performance in Bad Teacher he should just stick to singing.

Bad Teacher was predictable till the very end, but there were a couple of things that kept the movie uniquely entertaining. The protagonist (Cameron Diaz) and the antagonist (Lucy Punch) do not become BFFs by the end of the movie, the central character does not get what she was after the entire movie, and the “Bad Teacher” continues to be bad with absolutely no redemption. It ended in non-traditional Hollywood fashion, which any movie-goer can appreciate.

My Personal Movie Rating: 6.5/10.

In this movie Nick Twisp goes on a vacation to end up finding a beautiful girl, Sheeni Saunders, who he feels instantaneously attached to. Although Sheeni seems to be into the nerdy boy known as Nick Twisp, the two actually live quite far from each other making a relationship seem near impossible.

Nick explains that he’d do anything to stay and be with Sheeni and they mastermind a plan to get closer to each other so they can be together.

Nick Twisp ends up creating an alter-ego by the name of Francois Dillinger to help him commit crimes in his community that he would never normally pursue. Once his alter-ego takes control of him, Nick finds himself in some unfamiliar situations but realizes he’s getting closer to being with his true love, Sheeni.

I personally feel Michael Cera does an amazing job of acting in this movie. Not only as himself, the nerdy geeky guy, but also as his alter-ego who is quite definable as a complete badass.

If you haven’t gotten a chance to watch this flick yet, I recommend you doing so. It’s quite comedic and romantic all twisted in one.

My Personal Movie Rating: 7.3/10

Gotti was a movie that was released on the HBO television network in 1996. This movie served the purpose of being a small re-enactment of John Gotti and his nefarious reputation.

The leading actor for this movie was Armand Assante who did an amazing job with the role he was given to perform.

In this movie, John Gotti, starts off as the head of a small New York mafia crew. At this point in time, he was a crew leader for the infamous Gambino family. As time further progresses in the movie, John becomes a little distressed when his boss, Carlo Gambino, dies and makes his underboss Paul Castellano the new boss of the family. Eventually John and others of the family were feeling that Paul was tearing out the roots of what the family was originally about. They decided to set out a hit on Paul and John Gotti took on the position as boss with his best friend Sammy Gravano becoming his under-boss. While this is all going on, in the background the FBI has been trying to bring Gotti to justice with multiple indictments. Nothing at the time the FBI brought to the court could put Gotti away. It was like he was invincible. This is when he got the name Teflon Don. The FBI later got voice recordings of John Gotti admitting to multiple crimes and including a possible future hit on his under-boss Sammy Gravano. The FBI showed Gravano these tapes and he testified against John Gotti in court where he was sentenced to life in prison with no parole.

In my personal opinion, this movie is one of the greatest mobster/mafia movies I have seen to date. Not only does the lead actors and actresses play there parts magnificently, but also the story of the Gambino family is just such an incredible one. If you’re interested in these types of films, I highly recommend you check out “Gotti”, where you’ll learn about John Gotti’s rise in the Gambino family and eventually his fall to his own demise.

My Personal Movie Rating: 9.1/10
